I like JMS's style.

Secret Origin rehashed Silver Age themes and paid homage to the Superman movies. It was cool to see and "hear" Christopher Reeve.

The artwork for both were phenomenal.

Earth One and S.O. have different target audiences. S.O. was for continuity nuts. E1 was for casual or non-fans.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed SO, but it didn't feel fresh or necessary.

Then again, I really am against DC retelling Superman's origin over and over and over and over:

John Byrne, Loeb/Sales, Year One, World's Finest, Elseworlds, Loeb's "The Real Truth About Krypon" fiasco years ago, Waid, Earth-1, etc.Johnny Storm Dieshttp://comicbooks.bad-dreams.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6392489189136721402.post-53254216008513151762010-08-27T23:18:59.020+01:002010-08-27T23:18:59.020+01:00I'm looking forward to picking this one up whe...I'm looking forward to picking this one up when it's collected. I suspect it'll be Superman and Batman for people who know them only from the movies.

Still, this comic, and the recent Last Family of Krypton, proved much-needed treats.Martin Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09574149543260175962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6392489189136721402.post-14685101335495245012010-08-26T23:23:31.400+01:002010-08-26T23:23:31.400+01:00Couldn't agree more. Love this origin, will be buying the HC when it comes out.

NOW, I'm curious to see how it will stand up next to the Superman: Earth One HC series DC is creating for a new, bookseller-friendly continuity. Given that it will be written by the same JMS who's mishandling the character in DC's monthly comic, I'm willing to bet it won't tease me away from the main DCU anytime soon.CWBuckleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10015226765649457200noreply@blogger.com
