I get wantin...This was a genuine disappointment.

I get wanting to re-tell and update Ray' origin while setting up Adventure. I can see wanting to retroactively expand Ray's anemic supporting cast in the wake of IDENTITY CRISIS. Fine.

However, Lemiere excising Jean Loring from the origin entirely strikes me as profoundly wrong-headed. What is there in her stead are the most cliched elements a superhero backstory imaginable. Are nerdy, bullied introverts the only people in the world who are exposed the transformative powers of comic book science? Did every member of the JLA lose one (or more) parents prior to adulthood? More the point, why is every DC character suddenly mandated to be Peter Parker?

I had such high hopes or this run. It is a shame to have to lower them so soon.Dean H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17923782800713104454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6392489189136721402.post-20189160544407933952010-07-09T23:14:47.040+01:002010-07-09T23:14:47.040+01:00Not the many I read, Scott. Ray's stories were never particularly about his family, were they?Scott (The Mad Thinker) Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10782962281214635210noreply@blogger.com
