Scooby-Doo Team-Up Chapter #27 review

Scooby, Velma, Fred, Daphne and Shaggy are on a cruise. They're also on a mission, which comes as something of a surprise to Shaggy, who's only there for the non-stop buffet. Just think of all the Scooby snacks that can be made with saltine crackers and Swiss cheese...

The captain is worried by a spate of recent robberies on the shipping line. And wouldn't you know it, this is the day they hit one particular boat...
And when Greek god Poseidon shows up alongside the ship, things start looking really scary  - well, to Scooby and Shaggy, anyway. Their pals, though, have arranged some help.
It's Aquaman, defender of the Seven Seas, his giant octopus pal Topo and watery wife Mera. The bad guys surely haven't got a chance...
This is yet another fast-moving, gag-heavy episode of the always delightfully drawn digital comic from aptly named writer Sholly Fisch, penciller Dario Grizuela, colourist Franco Riesco and letterer Saida Temofonte. Aquaman's recent Brave & Bold characterisation is eschewed for a more classic cartoon version in keeping with Scooby's world. OUTRAGEOUS!

But still hugely entertaining. The big surprise this issue is the cliffhanger. I don't feel able to spoil it but I will say that the reaction of longtime Aquaman fans is likely to be: 'They're really going there?'

Fisch, though, is so good that he gets the benefit of the doubt; I suspect that before he writes 'Fin' he's going to right a very old wrong. So make like Scooby heading for a cruise and jump on board.

    1. I love this book. Even without Mama Cass and the Brady Kids

  2. This is simply one of my favorite series. I buy it on paper, so when you wrote about the cliffhanger, it took me a second to realize what you were talking about; the print edition has both parts of the story.

    What a blast!
