Several Legionnaires die but that's OK cos more arrive to beat the villains and then everyone goes home. Superboy Prime dies, but it turns out he's just gone back to a reborn Earth Prime to live in his basement, scare his parents and whine about comics. White Witch gets a black makeover and a new Karate Kid gets snotty. George Perez and Scott Koblish draw pretty. Associate editor Adam Schlagman serves fries. Mart wishes he'd not bothered.
Wow. I had planned on buying this in trade, but I guess you'd not recommend it, huh?
ReplyDeleteWell, you might enjoy it - we don't always agree!
ReplyDeleteMakes you think about fandom, doesn't it? At least through the eyes of Geoff Johns?
ReplyDeleteYeah, in hindsight, it was all just sound and fury. Loved George's art, and Conner's back, but other than that... maybe I shouldn't have bothered, either.
ReplyDeleteGeoff Johns is really way overrated IMHO. He's not bad, but he's not as good as others seem to cry out. He often writes like too much of a fanboy. His SBP is so one-dimensional I don't know what fans see in him; Johns is the master of the anvil metaphor.
If anything, then at least I got some awesome Perez artwork.
